It is what it is...

"It is what it is" seems to be my new catch phrase lately. Might be because so many things really are outside of my control. i.e. the mortgage, Bryan's health, work, etc. However, it is a new month & I am now going to embark on a new motivation to get in better shape. I'm going to take charge over something that I can control.

I've been good with working out, ballet twice a week, and when things calm down at home, I'll get back to running. It's just so hard to get out of the house when I have a recovering husband and a needy puppy. It also doesn't help that I'm pretty much exhausted all the time from juggling all the doctor's appointments, mortgage documents, FMLA/Short Term Disability papers, etc. Anyway, here goes on turning a new leaf.

Last night, I went out with Amanda to help her pick up some new furniture for her new place with Thembi & we were lucky enough to get to meet up with Lindsey & have an impromptu girls night at Lagerhaus. A few pear ciders & lambics later and we were having quite a good time. It came up though about Lindsey's diet plan and Amanda & I have agreed to give this a shot.

The gist of it is that you don't eat bad carbs, i.e. breads, flour, pasta, rice. Fruits & Veggies are unlimited and the goal is to have good carbs & protein with every meal. Ideally, you want to eat multiple smaller meals in a day so your metabolism keeps going. (Did I forget anything, Linds?)

Amanda & I got together this morning and took a trip to Publix to stock up. I'm going to hold myself to this and will post the successes and even note what I'm eating so I make sure I'm sticking to this.

The Plan:
Breakfast: oatmeal & hard-boiled eggs
AM Snack: yogurt & fruit or protein shake & fruit
Lunch: Lindsey's Chili
PM Snack: apples & peanut butter or trailmix
Dinner: variations of chicken stir-fry over brown rice or quinoa

The Grocery List:

Oatmeal (unflavored)
Chobani yogurt
Apples, Strawberries, Bananas, Grapes
Peanut Butter
Ground Lean Turkey (for Chili)

It all starts tomorrow. & I am ready!
